Interdisciplinary exchange at the International Paper Physics Conference 2024

The International Paper Physics Conference (IPPC) 2024 took place in Wuppertal at the beginning of October. The focus of the event was on the latest developments in the fields of physics, chemistry and technology in connection with pulp and paper. The conference was organized by a cooperation between the University of Wuppertal and the Technical University of Darmstadt with the support of TAPPI.

Almost 100 interested visitors from industry and science as well as colleagues from Koehler Innovation & Technology were able to attend presentations on a wide range of topics relating to paper as a promising and universally applicable raw material over the three days of the conference. The spectrum ranged from alternative fibre materials, the optimization of rotors or the air flow in the dryer section of paper machines, to the modelling of decomposition processes in historical documents. Students presented their work as part of a postersession and both they and the visitors were able to learn from each other in an open exchange.

The conference provided an ideal platform for an interdisciplinary exchange on state-of-the-art developments as well as known and unresolved issues.
